KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- The second day of the International PalmOil Congress (2001 PIPOC) gets under way at Hotel Istana and Mutiara KualaLumpur here Tuesday.

Several papers covering various sectors like agriculture, economics andmarketing, chemistry and technology, and oleochemicals will be presented.

These include "Global market prospects for palm oil", "New productsdevelopment: value adding and niche marketing", "Opportunities for jointventures overseas", "Pricing aspects of palm oil trading", "Developmentsof oleochemicals industry -- the next frontier", "Issues in internationaltrade on vegetable oils and fats", "World Trade Organisation --Negotiations in agriculture, the next round of talks", "Food regulatorydevelopment affecting oils and fats" and "Trade-related environmentchallenges for the palm oil industry".

Other topics include "Arbitration issues on vegetable oils and fatstrade", "Nutritional aspects on the marketing of palm oil", "New method ofclearing oil palm for replanting","Assessment of performance of Malaysianoil palm planting material", "Nutritionally valuable products from palmoil and its fractions" and "In search of the perfect fat blend with palmoil at the core".

The congress was officially opened by primary industries minister DatukSeri Dr Lim Keng Yalk yesterday. Some 1,400 delegates from 43 countriesare attending the congress.
