KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- It is vital for the oils and fatsindustry to ensure the continuous participation in regulatory decisionmaking at both the national and international level.

A representative from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), Nor Aini Sudinsaid this was to ensure that the specifications for national governmentsapplications should only be on essential quality and should not beover-prescriptive.

Nor Aini said this in presenting a joint-working paper on "Food RegulatoryDevelopment Affecting oils and Fats" at the 2001 Internatiopnal Palm OilCongress (2001 PIPOC). The other writers were Mohd Jaafar Ahmad, NagendranBalasundram and Fauziah Arshad.

The paper was presented yesterday. The three-day congress organised by theMPOB ends Wednesday.
