17.06.2020 (Cogencis) - NEW DELHI – Following are the highlights of trading in edible oil markets today:

* At 1703 IST

   –July soybean contract was up 0.4% at 3,716.0 rupees per 100 kg on NCDEX

   –July refined soyoil contract was up 0.1% at 814.0 rupees per 10 kg on NCDEX

   –July mustard contract was down 0.5% at 4,686.0 rupees per 100 kg on NCDEX

* Soybean futures on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange closed higher as demand from solvent plants picked up, analysts said.

* Weakness in soybean contracts on the Chicago Board of Trade prevented a sharp gain in contracts of the oilseed on the NCDEX. On the American bourse, soybean fell due to weak demand at higher price levels.

* Refined soyoil contracts on the NCDEX and crude palm oil futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India rose due to firm demand following relaxations in the lockdown triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. The contracts also took cues from gains in crude palm oil futures on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives.

* Futures contracts of crude palm oil on BMD settled higher today due to upbeat exports from the southeast Asian country, traders said.

   > Malaysia's palm oil exports during Jun 1-15 are estimated to have risen 83% on month to 922,251 tn, according to cargo surveyor AmSpec Agri Malaysia. The country is the largest producer and exporter of palm oil after Indonesia.

* Futures contracts of mustard on the NCDEX fell today due to profit booking following a steady rise in prices in the past few sessions, said Vinod T.P., an analyst with Geojit Financial Services.
