Sabah continues MCO restrictions, but allows certain shops to open for limited hours
The Star Online (01/04/2020) - KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will continue with the current restrictions under the movement control order (MCO) but will allow some workshops, pet shops and tyre shops to operate on certain days.
State Secretary Datuk Safar Untong said that all directives that came into force in March will remain until the end of the MCO on April 14, including prohibiting Fama’s Pasar Tani from being held in the state during the MCO period.
The Sabah Covid Command Centre chairman said that certain workshops and tyre shops registered with the Public Works Department can be open during the MCO, and said that these tyre shops and workshops can operate from 8am to 2pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Safar added that that the number of tyre and workshops to be given permission to operate will be decided by the respective local authorities.
He also said that the state also will allow certain pet shops to operate from 8am to 2pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and added that the number of shops allowed to be open would be determined by the local authorities.
Safar then said that the state maintained its decision to order plantations and oil palm mills to temporarily stop operations in Tawau, Lahad Datu, Kinabatangan, Kalabakan, Semporna and Kunak until April 14.
The first temporary stop-work order for plantations and oil mills was made on March 30 as the plantations and oil mills were not included in the March 18 MCO.
