FUNDAMENTALS

* Malaysian palm oil futures charted a fifth consecutive day of losses on Friday evening, ending the day near three-year lows, weighed down by concerns that output would rise.

* U.S. corn futures climbed more than 1 percent on Friday to their highest in more than a week, buoyed by end-user demand and fund short-covering, analysts said.

* Oil prices rose on Monday as U.S. markets tightened just weeks ahead of Washington's plan to impose new sanctions against Iran.

MARKET NEWS

* The safe haven yen gained on Monday in holiday-thinned trading as China cancelled upcoming tariff talks with the United States, ratcheting up tensions while oil prices jumped after top producers including Russia ruled out boosting crude output.
