Palm oil stocks down to 2.17 million tonnes in May

11.06.2018 (New Straits Times Online) - KUALA LUMPUR: Total palm oil stocks fell 0.51 per cent in May 2018 to 2.17 million tonnes from 2.18 million tonnes recorded in preceding April.

Of this, crude palm oil accounted for 1.17 million tonnes, a decline of 2.08 per cent, while that of processed palm oil was up 1.39 per cent to one million tonnes, according to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) in its monthly performance statement.

In terms of production, crude palm oil output dropped 2.11 per cent during the month under review to 1.53 million tonnes from 1.56 million tonnes a month earlier.

Palm kernel also registered a lower output of 3.06 per cent to 380.987 tonnes.

Meanwhile, exports of palm oil contracted by 15.65 per cent to 1.29 million tonnes in May, but that of biodiesel exports increased by 27.68 per cent to 36,822 tonnes.
