07.06.2018 (The Borneo Post) - KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is looking to replace its palm oil with fruit crops, said Agriculture and Food Industry minister Junz Wong.

Wong said this includes fruits such as the Musang King durian and certain varieties of coconut and pineapple.

“The Agricultural Department has come up with a policy now to actually encourage more farmers to actually grow fruit trees instead of palm oil,” said Junz after delivering his ministerial mandate at a ceremony in Wisma Pertanian here this morning.

“All these have better yield and profit than palm oil so maybe we are going to study and come up with a policy so we can come up to cabinet, perhaps after the palm oil cycle is over,

“Maybe we should be planting other things rather than just continue to plant too much palm oil in Sabah. That is just one of the policies for the agticultural industry,” he added.
