Malaysian palm oil/Vegoils: Market factors to watch Thursday Nov 9
09/11/2017 (The Star Online) - KUALA LUMPUR: The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and other vegetable oil markets on Thursday Nov 9.
FUNDAMENTALS
* Malaysian palm oil futures jumped to a one week top on Wednesday evening, charting a second straight day of gains, over concerns that rainy weather could lower production.
* U.S. winter wheat futures ended mixed on Wednesday while soybeans and corn closed slightly higher as traders squared positions ahead of a monthly U.S. Department of Agriculture crop
supply and demand report due out on Thursday, traders said.
* Oil prices settled slightly lower on Wednesday after U.S. government data showed rising domestic crude production, a surprise build in U.S. stockpiles and a decline in monthly Chinese crude imports, a triple blow that was offset somewhat by rising tensions in the Middle East.
MARKET NEWS
* Gains in technology shares helped push the U.S. stock market to record highs on Wednesday despite concerns that Republicans' plans to cut corporate taxes may not win congressional approval as early as expected, prolonging a rally that started in Asia and sent the MSCI All World Index to a record high.
