Russia reduced palm oil purchases by 14% in the 2016/17 season
01/11/2017 (UkrAgroConsult ) - Palm oil imports to Russia totaled 79.2 KMT in September 2017, or almost 24.3% more than in the previous month (63.7 KMT). However, the purchases are down 11.7% from the same time last year (89.7 KMT). In addition, palm oil imports hit a three-year low.
As a reminder, Russia reduced palm oil imports by 13.5% in the past 2016/17 season. This trend is expected to continue in the new 2017/18 season, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Indonesia remains the top supplier of palm oil to Russia in the new 2017/18 season. The country stepped up exports by 5% and occupied 89% of the Russian market. Malaysia, on the contrary, slashed palm oil shipments to Russia more than four times and decreased its import share there to 3%.
