Farmers Trained on Oil Palm at Baghty
28/04/2017 (Eastern Mirror): Department of Agriculture, Baghty conducted farmers training on Oil Palm Cultivation under NMOOP programme on April 21 at Ruchayan circle.
SDAO L.Mhao Loth, who also chaired the programme, appraised the participants that oil palm under NMOOP is a newly launched programme implemented by the Department of Agriculture. He also urged them to be sincere in their activities stating that agriculture has a very high prospect of profit to uplift their economy.
AO Baghty, Wochumo spoke on oil palm cultivation practices. He informed thre participants that palm oil is widely used vegetable oil amounting to 65 per cent of all vegetable oil and appraised them the benefit and importance. He also mentioned that oil palm is used as cooking oil, liquid detergents, soaps, shampoos, waxes, and polishes and used as industrial lubricant, bio fuel and confectionery among others.
Free maize, lime, rodenticides and paddy were also distributed to 30 participants.
