Govt. Encouraging Oil Palm Cultivation: DC

21/12/2016 (The Arunachal Times) - Lower Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner Deepak Shinde encouraged farmers of the district to take up oil palm cultivation.

Addressing the farmers at the launching programme of oil palm plantation in the district by 3F Oil Palm Agrotech Pvt. Ltd in association with Department of Agriculture at 8 km Oil Palm Nursery here on Monday, the DC said that the farmers are being encouraged on oil palm cultivation by extending various kind of supports, including the major part of plantation cost.

The Deputy Commissioner exhorted the farmers to understand the whole farming process and undergo exposure visits and adopt scientific methods of farming.

Regarding selection of beneficiary, risk factor involved in plantation, he urged the agency to take outmost care and provide technical support from time to time.

He also emphasized on more transparency in MoU among 3F Oil Palm Company, Agriculture Department and farmers and advocated for proper vigilance in every level of implementation of oil Palm Plantation project in the district.

MD of 3F Oil Palm Aashis Goenka briefed on market values of the Oil Palm, packages and practices of Oil Palm cultivation in Lower Dibang Valley District.

Citing example of Oil Palm producing state, like Andhra Pradesh and Mizoram, he informed that Arunachal Pradesh has more favorable climatic condition and potential to grow Oil Palm.

Responding to the farmers queries on marketing facilities, multiple cropping, MoU and other terms and conditions, he informed that agencies are committed to development in this area in terms of oil Palm plantation and inputs from farmer will be taken into consideration in over all policies and implementation of the project.

GN PS Reddy informed that collection center of Oil Palm will be set up in designated location and money will be directly transferred to farmers’ bank account by the company within a week.

He also informed that Government is providing maintenance subsidies, pumping set subsidies, inter crop subsidies, Plant subsidies etc to encourage oil Palm Plantation.
