VEGOILS-Market Factors to Watch May 19
19/05/2016 (Reuters) - The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and other vegetable oil markets.
FUNDAMENTALS
* Malaysian benchmark palm oil futures reversed gains to hit a two-week low on Wednesday, as speculation over higher output and technical selling dragged the market lower.
* U.S. corn futures firmed to their highest in nearly four weeks on Wednesday, closing in positive territory for the fifth day in a row on short-covering after weakening in overnight trading, traders said.
* Oil prices retreated from 2016 highs and snapped a two-day rally on Wednesday, hurt by a surge in the dollar after the U.S. Federal Reserve signalled it could raise interest rates next month.
MARKET NEWS
* Asian stocks slipped but the dollar was buoyant early on Thursday as markets scrambled to factor in a near-term U.S. interest rate hike foreshadowed in minutes of the Federal Reserve's last monetary meeting.
