Civil Works on New Oil Palm Factory Begun
05/02/2016 (Hindu Business Online) - Civil works on the proposed Rs 76-crore oil palm factory of 30-tonnes-per-hour crushing capacity formally began at Apparaopeta in Dammapeta mandal on Thursday.
Minister for Agriculture P Srinivas Reddy and Minister for Roads and Buildings T Nageswara Rao performed “Bhoomi Puja” on Thursday evening, sources said.
The need for the new factory was felt in view of the inability of the existing State Oil Federation oil palm factory in Aswaraopeta (with a crushing capacity of 15 tonnes per hour) to meet the demand for processing fresh fruit bunches. The federation expedited the process of construction of the new oil palm factory at Apparaopeta and had drawn up plans to enhance the capacity of the existing factory in Aswaraopeta.
