MPOB Organises Palm Oil Economic Review And Outlook Seminar

08/01/2016 (Bernama) - The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) will organise the Palm Oil Economic Review and Outlook Seminar on Jan 19 at the The Royale Chulan here.

In a statement Friday, MPOB said the seminar will be officiated by Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Douglas Uggah Embas.

Themed 'Palm Oil: Maximising Opportunities During Challenging Times', the annual seminar will deliberate on numerous issues and possible challenges of 2016 that will be faced by the oil palm industry as well as the global oils and fats trade.

Among the prominent speakers at the seminar are Bursa Malaysia Commodity Derivatives Product and Market Development Vice-President Moriazi Mohamad; Indonesia Palm Oil Association Executive Director Dr Mohamad Fadhil Hassan; and ISTA Mielke GmbH - Oil World Executive Director Thomas Mielke.

MPOB Director-General Datuk Dr Choo Yuen May will present the first paper, entitled 'Malaysian Palm Oil Industry Performance in 2015 and Prospects for 2016', at the one-day seminar.

MPOB will also put up an exhibition at the event to showcase the technology and services offered by MPOB to the industry.

Other topics to be deliberated on during the seminar include 'Appreciating US dollar and Its Impact on the Malaysian Palm Oil Industry'; 'Palm Oil Update: Post-GST Implementation'; and 'World Oils & Fats Complex: Palm Oil the Balancing Factor.'
