21/10/2015 (Bernama) - In the light of the current haze Malaysians are facing, a local company, Biofuel Sdn Bhd, has come out with a solution to reduce carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide emissions.

Its Director, P. Muguntha, said the company's 'Biofuel' palm oil-based diesel additive saved fuel consumption by 17.7 per cent besides reducing carbon particles by 90 per cent in the form of ashes burned by a vehicle.

Muguntha said vehicle emission was said to be one of the factors that worsened the haze and would contribute further to the country's carbon dioxide emission level in the next 10-20 years.

"We suggest the utilisation of Biofuel as we have done 14 years of research in fuel additive with palm oil, and these are backed by findings of Sirim QAS International report, which is an international body, equivalent to UK's Accreditation System," he said.

Muguntha said many products claimed to be able to reduce carbon dioxide emission but no one could even cross three per cent of savings and carbon dioxide emission like Biofuel.

He said in terms of vehicle performance, it gave a resounding 9.95 per cent better torque which was a much-sought-after attribute.

In the near term, he said, Biofuel would bring its findings to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board and hoped to develop Biofuel using the commodity and help elevate the price of palm oil.

"We hope the government would join us because palm oil belongs to Malaysia, and we are the biggest exporter of palm oil," he said.
