New Investors Target Indonesian Plantation Sector

Thursday April 15, 07:39 PM - SAMPIT, C Kalimantan, April 15 Asia Pulse- As many as 10 new investors have expressed readiness to deal withbusinesses in the plantation sector in East Kotawaringin district inIndonesia's Central Kalimantan province to replace the 13 privateplantation companies whose licenses have expired since 2003.

A senior official of the provincial administration, Yusuf Sulaiman, saidhere Wednesday that the 10 national investors have been approved by theprovincial administration to do plantation businesses in the district.

The investors include PT Karya Sawit Abadi replacing PT Bhadra Cemerlang,which was licensed to cultivate on the 20-hectare land of oil palmplantation, PT Hutan SawitLestari in place of PT Graha Jaya Abadi (13.643hectares) and PT Hutanindo Agro Lestari to replace PT BandarinInternasional (17,500 hectares).

The other investors are among others PT Karya Sawit Abadi, PT Makin and PTBhakti Emas Surya Terang, he said adding that the new investors havereceived the approval from the provincial government to cultivate in oilpalm plantation areas measuring between 5,000 hectares to 20 hectares.

Investors interested to replace three other plantation companies in thedistrict are PT Karya Makmur Abadi, PT Karya Makmur Sejahtra and PT KaryaMakmur Sentosa, he said.
