18/06/2015 (Colombo Page) - Sri Lanka Finance Ministry said the special commodity levy on imported dhal will be reduced with effect from midnight Wednesday.

Accordingly, the tax for unprocessed Mysore dhal would be reduced from Rs. 5 per kilo to 25 cents.

The Ministry said the decision was taken to reduce the burden on the people to counter the price hike in the global market.

Meanwhile, the special commodity levy for palm oil had been increased from Rs 90 to Rs 110 per kilogram to help the local edible oil producers, the Ministry said.
