Commercialize Palm Oil Production – Dr. Nguleka
22/05/2015 (ZNBC) - Zambia National Farmers Union -ZNFU- President Evelyn Nguleka has encouraged Small Scale farmers in Mwense district to venture into palm oil production.
Speaking after she toured Isubilo palm oil project in Mwense district, Dr. Nguleka said more farmers should come on board and expand their fields in an effort to attract investors.
She said venturing in commercial palm oil production would enable government to save money spent of the importation of edible oils.
Dr. Nguleka also encouraged farmers in the area to work with the government of the day adding that without the involvement of policy makers, no development can take place.
And Finish Ambassador to Zambia Oikkanen Timo was excited to note that farmers in the area are engaged in the production of a non-traditional crop.
Meanwhile, Luapula Province Minister Brigadier General Benson Kapaya said the province has potential to feed itself and other provinces if the agriculture sector is properly nurtured.
