08/04/2015 (Bernama) - Cargill, the premier global food and agriculture company, is on track to achieve a sustainable palm oil supply chain by 2020.

In its second palm oil progress report, it said the percentage of traceable palm oil had risen and Cargill aimed to achieve 100 per cent traceability up to the mill level by December 2015.

Cargill has also made steady progress in the deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) within their plantations, the report said, adding that a team would soon start flight training in Malaysia to become certified UAV pilots.

The UAVs will enable smaller teams to map and monitor land use and respond quickly to issues, such as burning or theft, it added.

Cargill has been conducting business in Malaysia since 1978.

Operations include animal feed mills, shrimp hatchery, grain and oilseed distribution centres, palm oil refineries, as well as, food application centres.
