17/03/2015 (ICIS) - Malaysia exported 491,727 tonnes of palm oil products in the first half March, down by 3.4% from the same period in February, data from cargo surveyor Intertek Testing Services (ITS) showed on Monday.

Shipments to China grew by about 5% over the same period, while exports to India – the world’s largest tropical oil consumer – slumped by 17.5% after importing substantial volumes in the previous month due to drought worries and attractive pricing.

Among Malaysia’s palm oil products, palm olein recorded the biggest volume of shipments in the first half of March at 202,254 tonnes, up 53.4% on month.

Exports of palm stearin, on the other hand, surged 90.4% to 69,430 tonnes over the same period.
