Malaysian Derivatives Volume Hits All Time High In 2014
07/01/2015 (Bernama) - Bursa Malaysia's total derivatives daily volume averaged an all time record high of 50,654 contracts in 2014, registering a 17 per cent growth, from 43,315 contracts recorded in 2013.
In a statement, the local bourse said total volume averaged 50,000 contracts per day, with the Crude Palm Oil Futures (FCPO) contract surging beyond 10 million contracts per annum.
"2014 was an exceptional year for the FCPO contract, where it broke a record average daily volume of 41,285 contracts, recording a 28 per cent growth, from 32,251 contracts registered in 2013.
"The increased volatility in the crude oil and oilseed markets globally was the catalyst in the volume surge for FCPO," it added.
