Sime Darby Shares up on NBPOL Purchase
04/12/2014 (The Star) - Shares of Sime Darby rose at mid-morning on Thursday after Kulim's shareholders approved the offer made by Sime Darby Plantation Sdn Bhd to buy a stake in New Britain Palm Oil Ltd. at 11.40am, its shares rose eight sen to RM9.59 with some 2.03 million shares traded between RM9.54 and RM9.60.
The FBM KLCI was down 9.17 points to 1,748.98. Turnover was 865.72 million shares valued at RM682.85mil. There were 168 gainers, 518 decliners and 274 counters unchanged.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Kulim said the acceptance will result in Kulim selling its entire equity interest in NBPOL comprising 73.48 million NBPOL shares at the offer price of £7.15 per unit for £25.4mil (RM2.75bil).
