The main objective of the session was to explore the potentials in diversifying the feedstock beyond wood waste and Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) to include Oil Palm Trunks (OPT). Trunk Busters Sdn Bhd which presented the technology for pulverisation of the trunks highlighted the potential for available local OPT amounting to 15 million tonnes in 2013 (source: Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).
The participants discussed at length the challenges faced by the industry in developing competitiveness as a global player particularly in complying the international standard for solid biofuel, i.e. the ISO/TC 238 solid biofuel.
