Edible Oils Mixed on Ample Supply

12/09/2014 (Hindu Business Line) - Edible oils prices were mixed on the back of ample supply on Thursday. Indigenous groundnut, sunflower and rapeseed oil gained ₹15, ₹2 and ₹7 for 10 kg each respectively. Imported soya oil, palmolein and cotton refined oil declined by ₹2, ₹2 and ₹3 each. Continuous weakness in domestic currency and firm palm oil futures markets lifted the sentiment and volume higher.

Sources said during the day, over 2,000-2,200 tonnes of palmolein were bought by traders at ₹483-485. Some isolated trade also took place for indigenous oils Groundnut and cotton oil ahead of Navaratri. Domestic soya oil Sept-Oct futures rose by ₹2-5 until the evening as a weak rupee lifted import parity.

Vikram Global Commodities (P) Ltd, Chennai, quoted ₹520/10 kg for September delivery of Malaysian super palmolein. At the end of the day, Liberty was quoting Palmolein ₹483/₹485, Super Palmolein ₹507, Soyabean refined oil ₹587. Ruchi was quoting Palmolein at ₹485, Soyabean refined oil ₹580 and Sunflower refined oil ₹595. Allana was quoting Palmolein at ₹510, Super Palmolein ₹535, Soyabean refined oil ₹600 and sunflower oil ₹600.

In Saurashtra, Rajkot Groundnut Telia tin rose on third consecutive day by ₹40 to ₹1,180 (₹1,140) and Loose (10 kg) increased by ₹30 to ₹750 (₹720).

The Bombay Commodity Exchange spot rates (₹/10 kg) were: groundnut oil 780 (765), soya refined oil 580 (582), sunflower exp. ref. 540 (538), sunflower ref. 595 (595), rapeseed ref. oil 720 (713), rapeseed expeller ref. 690 (683) cottonseed ref. oil 620(623) and palmolein 483 (485).
