Kyrgyz Parliament Approves A Number of Draft Laws

01/07/2014 (24) - The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan has approved a number of draft laws.

MPs supported the amendments to the Law "On Customs Tariff". According to innovations, for the support of domestic producers there are proposed the amendments to 82 commodity items in accordance with the proposals, received from the ministries and departments as well as enterprises of the KR. In general it is proposed to zero out 48 commodity items, including raw materials for production of juices and beverages, some kinds of confectionery fats and oils, textiles, raw materials, components for furniture production, some refractory elements, materials and equipment for construction.

MPs excluded palm oil from the list of goods, for which it is proposed to zero customs duties out. Earlier Dastan Bekeshev explained that, according to experts' report, this product is very harmful to health, but, despite this, in some countries, it is widely used in the manufacture of confectionery, especially, cakes.

The bill on biometrics is approved. Previously the deputy Abdyzhapar Bekmatov noted that recently there are more and more events occurring in the country that pose a threat to national security, life and health of citizens. The bill has caused a lot of controversy. Dastan Bekeshev urged not to rush to its adoption because it is poor.

The initiator Galina Skripkina noted that the campaign on collection of biometric data will be phased. As a result, the document is accepted.

The Parliament also approved an agreement between the governments of Poland and Kyrgyzstan for the loan of $40 million. The loan agreement provides for concessional terms. Funds will be allocated for the purchase of agricultural machinery and conducting animal identification.
