Palm Oil Stocks Up 4.2 Per Cent In May To 1.84 Million Tonnes

11/06/2014 (Bernama) - Palm oil stocks increased 4.2 per cent to 1.84 million tonnes in May 2014 from 1.77 million tonnes in April, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) said.

The board said crude palm oil (CPO) stocks declined 2.48 per cent to 978,829 tonnes last month while that of processed palm oil increased 12.99 per cent to 861,548 tonnes.

Palm kernel stocks were 1.92 per cent higher at 142,209 tonnes in May and that for crude palm kernel oil slipped 1.83 per cent to 151,419 tonnes in the previous month, it said.

CPO production in May rose 6.5 per cent to 1.66 million tonnes from 1.56 million tonnes recorded in April.

Palm kernel production in May was up 2.63 per cent to 399,248 tonnes from 389,028 tonnes registered in April that of crude palm kernel oil output added 5.0 per cent to 185,823 tonnes.

Production of palm kernel cake increased 6.27 per cent to 207,409 tonnes in May from 195,163 tonnes registered in April.

The MPOB said palm oil exports in May rose 10.74 per cent to 1.4 million tonnes from April's 1.27 million tonnes.

It said CPO imports jumped 301.46 per cent last month to 8,025 tonnes while the import of processed palm oil added 3.93 per cent to 42,673 tonnes in May.
