18/04/2014 (Borneo Post) - The ‘Borneo Heavy Machinery Fair 2014’, deemed the largest of its kind in the state, began last night at the Sibu Town Square.
The fair, which ends on Sunday, is organised by Cityvine (M) Sdn Bhd with the support of the Sibu Municipal Council.
It gathers heavy machinery dealers, manufacturers, exhibitors under one roof to showcase the latest development in the heavy machinery industry.
It serves as a platform of collaboration between the heavy machinery dealers and industry players in the construction, plantation and agricultural businesses.
“The partnership is crucial for Sarawak to realise its aspiration to have 1 million hectares of oil palm plantations in the next few years,” a spokesman for the organiser said yesterday.
He said close collaboration among entrepreneurs, heavy machinery dealers, bankers and the insurance sector would go a long way to support the future development of the state.
Sponsors for the fair included UMW (East Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and AmBank.
UMW assistant general manager Ong Lee Chai and AmBank business development general manager Moses Wong had earlier handed over the sponsorships to Cityvine Group’s managing director Prisca Leong.
