Import of Palm Oil Declines By Over 10 Percent
17/03/2014 (Business Recorder) - Import of palm oil reduced by over 10 percent to $1.085 billion during July-January 2013-14, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said. Palm oil import slid by $125 million in July-January 2013-14 from $1.210 billion in the same period last fiscal year, the statistics suggested.
In terms of quantity: palm oil import came down by 73170 metric tons (6 percent) to 1,327,847 metric tons in July-January 2013-14 from 1,254,677 metric tons in the same period last fiscal year, the PBS added. Import of palm oil stood at $185.848 million in January 2013, falling down by $7.304 million (4 percent) to $178.544 million during January 2014, the statistics showed. In terms of volume: palm oil import went down by 114, 47 metric tons (5.15 percent) to 210,709 metric tons in January 2014 from 222, 156 metric tons in January 2013, according to the PBS.
Import of soybean oil declined by $1.671 million (24.12 percent) to $35.421 million in July-January 2013-14 from $33.750 million in the same period last fiscal year, the figures indicate. In terms of volume: soybean oil import scaled down to 33,750 metric tons by 2735 metric tons (7.5 percent) in July-January 2013-14 from 36,485 metric tons in the same period last fiscal year, the PBS depicts.
Import of soybean oil grew to $3.226 million by $0.787 million (32.72 percent) in January 2014 from $2.439 million in January 2013, the statistics indicated. In terms of quantity: soybean oil import during January 2014 posted a growth of 688 metric tons (48.48 percent) to 3,127 metric tons as compared the oil import of 2,439 metric tons in January 2013, it said.
