February Palm Oil Stocks Fall 14.25 Per Cent To 1.65 Million Tonnes

11/03/2014 (Bernama) - Palm oil stocks fell 14.25 per cent to 1.65 million tonnes in February 2014 from 1.93 million tonnes in January 2014, said the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).

In a statement here Monday, MPOB said crude palm oil (CPO) stocks declined 13.62 per cent to 925,594 tonnes last month while processed palm oil fell 15.02 per cent to 733,888 tonnes.

Palm kernel stocks were 24.18 per cent lower at 109,931 tonnes last month and crude palm kernel oil stocks fell 12.56 per cent to 125,217 tonnes, it said.

The MPOB said CPO production in February 2014 went down 15.31 per cent to 1.27 million tonnes from 1.50 million tonnes in previous month.

Palm kernel production in February fell by 16.74 per cent to 322,497 tonnes from 182,902 tonnes in January, while crude palm kernel oil output dipped 10.28 per cent to 164,092 tonnes in February from 203,050 tonnes in the previous month.

Production of palm kernel cake declined 10.97 per cent to 180,782 tonnes from 203,050 tonnes in January 2014.

MPOB said palm oil exports in February slipped 1.25 per cent to 1.34 million tonnes from 1.36 million tonnes in January 2014.

It said CPO imports rose by 34.13 per cent last month to 7,817 tonnes while imports of processed palm oil plunged 95.56 per cent to 441 tonnes.

The average price of fresh fruit bunches per tonne increased 4.88 per cent to RM28.60 per tonne in February from RM27.27 in January 2014, it said.
