Angola: Agro-Industrial Programme Re-Launches Palm Tree Fruit Production in Kwanza Sul

11/01/2014 (AllAfrica.com) - A project to re-launch the planting of palm tree fruit, in an area of 7.500 hectares of arable lands will be executed in the municipalities of Amboim and Kilenda, coastal Kwanza Sul province, aiming for the production of palm oil.

The preliminary work will start this year (2014) and will be related to the clearing and preparation of lands, according to the information from social and agro-industrial programme, (Prosai) that Angop had access on Thursday.

"In municipalities of Amboim and Kilenda there is a fertile area for the production of the palm tree with the possibility of developing a profitable business with greater use of labour", says the document.

The agro-industrial programme expects to install 17 factories, occupying an area of cultivation of 195.500 hectares of arable lands and was designed under the socioeconomic development programme to fight poverty, improve social conditions, as well as the betterment of the population's income with the creation of housing, health facilities and schools.

The Santa Cruz University of Southern Brazil and Prosai signed in 2010, a protocol that aims to promote education, research and development of rural communities to fight hunger, poverty and unemployment.

The agreement also aims the promotion of industrial competitiveness and the increase of public and private partnerships to improve the quality of life in rural communities.
