Activity At Karachi and Qasim Ports
24/08/2013 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 94,559 tonnes of cargo comprising 77,008 tonnes of import cargo and 17,551 tonnes of export cargo including 3,323 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 77,008 tonnes comprised 33,640 tonnes of containerised cargo and 43,368 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 17,551 tonnes comprised 4,062 tonnes of containerised cargo; 40 tonnes of general cargo; 1,499 tonnes of cement and 11,950 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,323 containers comprising 2,500 containers import and 823 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 802 of 20's and 774 of 40's loaded while 150 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 64 of 20's and 104 of 40's loaded containers while 255 of 20's and 148 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are three ships namely Hyundai Jakarta, MSC Clementina and Oriental Marguerite with two container ships and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are six vessels viz Hyundai Confidence, Tabea, APL Sydney, JBU Sapphire, Nassau Energy and DA Kang with three container ships, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
There are four ships namely Hyundai Confidence, Tabea, MT Lahore and Torm Mathilde with two container ships, one oil tanker and one naphtha tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while three ships namely JBU Sapphire, Nassau Energy and Sea Wave with one ethanol tanker, one oil tanker and cement carrier are expected to sail on Saturday. There are five vessels viz Naxihe, Venetiko, Akaki, Liberty Pride and Alliance Richmond with two container ships, one oil tanker and two vehicles carriers respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
Port Qasim
A cargo volume of 69,831 tonnes comprising 28,961 tonnes of import cargo and 40,870 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,527 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 28,961 tonnes includes 688 tonnes of furnace oil; 8,570 tonnes of palm oil and 19,703 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 40,870 tonnes includes 12,560 tonnes of cement and 28,310 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,527 containers comprising 1,037 containers import and 1,490 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There are two ships namely CV Saigon Express and CV Bux Contract with containers are expected to sail on Friday. A total number of seven vessels viz CV Saigon Express, CV Bux Contract, MV Ikan Salmon, MV Beks Nazik, MV Aviono, MT Chemroad Haya and MT STX Forte are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, Fertilizer, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely MSC Clementina, Alliance Richmond, Aoyama, Beacon Sin, Aviono, Al-Salam-II and Arundel Castle with containers, cement, wheat, diesel oil and Fertilizer currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are three vessels viz CV MSC Clementina, CV Alliance Richmond and MV Helen with containers and chemicals expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday.
There is one ship namely MT Karachi with oil tanker due to arrive on Friday, while two more ships namely MT Quetta and MT Batissa with oil tankers are due to arrive on Saturday. There are five vessels viz MV Liquid Success, MV Atlantic Glory, MV Daebo Pohang, MV Inlaco Brave and MV Panagia stenion with chemicals, steel pipes, wheat and rape seeds are also due to arrive as per arrival schedule.
