Port Qasim Handles 100,927 Tons of Cargo
08/08/2013 (The News International) - Port Qasim handled a cargo volume of 100,927 tons during the last 24 hours that included 66,385 tons of imports and 34,542 tons of exports, the Port Qasim Authority reported on Wednesday.
Accordingly, the port handled imports, including furnace oil (21,674 tons), palm oil (14,000 tons), urea (3,750 tons) and containerised cargo (26,961 tons). It handled exports, including containerised cargo (34,542 tons).
Berth occupancy was measured at 50 percent at the port on Tuesday, the Port Qasim Authority reported.
It said that it moored four ships during the last 24 hours, which were carrying containers, furnace oil and palm oil.
With this, a total of seven ships loaded and offloaded containers, wheat, urea, furnace oil and palm oil. Those seven ships were CV Nijran, CV Maersk Kinston, CV Nysted Maersk, MV Beacon-SW, MV Elini-D, MT Akaki Bunga, and MTAlamanda, it said.
Besides, another three ships, carrying cement, furnace oil and crude oil, are currently parked at the outer anchorage of the port. Those three ships were Flora, Lahore, and Bright Oil Legend, it said.
