Activities At Karachi and Qasim Ports
19/07/2013 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 121,814 tonnes of cargo comprising 96,088 tonnes of import cargo and 25,726 tonnes of export cargo including 3,717 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 96,088 tonnes comprised 27,791 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,664 tonnes of general cargo; 29,833 tonnes of bulk cargo: 28,970 tonnes of coal; 863 tonnes of sulphur and 36,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,726 tonnes comprised 18,474 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20 tonnes of general cargo; 632 tonnes of cement and 6,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,717 containers comprising 1,923 containers import and 1,794 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 834 of 20's and 519 of 40's loaded while 1 of 20's and 25 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 467 of 20's and 274 of 40's loaded containers while 345 of 20's and 217 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are five ships namely Uni Globe, UASC Ajman, YM Zenith, Pona and Furuholmen with four container ships and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are six vessels viz Pona, Kota Karim, Furuholmen, Al-Jalaa, Du Juan Song and Orient Singapore with two container ships, two oil tankers and two general cargo ships respectively are currently at the berths.
There are two ships namely Cape and Al-Jalaa with one container ship and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while three ships namely Kota Karim, Helios Triumph and Nordic Tianjin with one container ship, one general cargo ship and one coal carrier respectively expected to sail on Friday.
There are three vessels viz Tai Pei, Brightoil Legend and Helios Triumph with one container ship, one crude oil tanker and one general cargo ship due to arrive on Thursday, while nine vessels viz Violatta, Kota Arif, APL Sharjah, OEL Trust, Santa Rosa, Hammonia Gallicium, Butinah, Ellie and BBC Delaware with six container ships, one rock phosphate carrier, one coal carrier and one general cargo ship respectively due to arrive on Friday.
Port Qasim
A cargo volume of 52,423 tonnes comprising 39,009 tonnes of import cargo and 13,414 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,656 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 39,009 tonnes includes 11,122 tonnes of palm oil; 9,837 tonnes of phosphoric acid and 18,050 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 13,414 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,656 containers comprising 950 containers import and 706 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Bellini and MV Stolt Negami with containers and chemicals sailed out to sea on Thursday morning. A total number of four vessels viz CV CMA CGM Bellini, MT Argent Cosmos, MV Out Rivaling-2 and MV Stolt Negami are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, palm oil, iron ore and phosphoric acid respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely Hammonia Pacificum, Al-Soor-II, MT Quetta, Gulf Asis and Flora with containers, furnace oil, diesel oil and cement currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are two vessels viz CV Hammonia Pacificum and MT Al-Soor-II with containers and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
