Palm Oil Stocks Fall 5.12 Per Cent To 1.82 Million Tonnes In May

10/06/2013 (Bernama) - Palm oil stocks fell 5.12 per cent to 1.82 million tonnes in May from 1.91 million tonnes in April, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) said Monday.

It said crude palm oil (CPO) stocks declined 13.52 per cent to 964,644 tonnes last month while processed palm oil increased 6.62 per cent to 851,736 tonnes.

Palm kernel stocks eased 1.27 per cent to 119,797 tonnes last month and crude palm kernel oil stocks dwindled 17.10 per cent to 201,136 tonnes, it said in a statement today.

It said CPO production in May increased 1.30 per cent to 1.38 million tonnes from 1.37 million tonnes in the preceding month.

Palm kernel production last month dropped to 342,901 tonnes from 342,966 tonnes in April while crude palm kernel oil output rose to 161,632 tonnes from 157,509 tonnes in the preceding month.

Production of palm kernel cake also increased 2.77 per cent to 179,065 tonnes from 174,237 tonnes in the previous month.

MPOB said palm oil exports in May dropped by 3.03 per cent to 1.41 million tonnes from 1.46 million tonnes in April.

It said CPO imports in May fell marginally to 15,815 tonnes from 17,949 tonnes previously while imports of processed palm oil gained 16.46 per cent to 31,926 tonnes from 27,413 tonnes in April.

The average price of fresh fruit bunches per tonne declined 1.24 per cent to RM23.13 per tonne in May from RM23.42 in April, it added.
