15/03/2013 (Kyiv Post) - Non-faction MP Viktor Baloha has proposed that the parliament bans the usage of palm oil in the production of foodstuffs.

The draft law has been registered in the parliament.

The document also bans the usage of food supplements, flavorings and diet supplements that are not registered in Ukraine.

According to an explanatory note to the draft, laboratories of the State Inspectorate for Protection of Consumer Rights of Ukraine cannot define what oil (food oil or technical oil) is used in foodstuff. After checks of the inspectorate, in 2012, 86 out of 800 samples of dairy products contained non-dairy fat.
