12/03/2013 (Pakistan Observer) - Three ships carrying container and palm oil were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively at Port Qasim on Sunday, port sources said here Monday.

Three more ships with containers and palm oil also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was observed at the Port at 64% on Sunday where nine ships namely C.V MSC Brainna, C.V Maersk Georgia, M.V Veruda, M.V Anthea, M.V Asian Express, M.V Lancelot, M.T STX Frote, M.T Al-Salam II and M.T Lincoln Park are currently occupying PQA berths to load/ offload containers, cement, bitumen, iron ore, palm oil, diesel oil and chemicals.

Cargo handing operations were carried out efficiently at the Port where a cargo volume of 120,458 tonnes, comprising 87,521 tonnes import and 32,9370 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 3,035 containers (1,600 imports and 1,435 exports TEUs) was handled at the Port.

Three ships M.V Lancelot, M.T Al Salam II, M.T Lincoln Park sailed out to sea on Monday morning while two more ships C.V Maersk Georgia and M.T STX Frote are expected to sail Monday afternoon.

M.T Maersk Mediteranean carrying palm oil is expected to take berth at Liquid Terminal on Monday. Three more ships with containers and palm oil also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.—APP
