02/03/2013 (Mizo News) - Oil Palm Stakeholders Meeting was held at Agriculture Department Committee Room yesterday.

The meeting, conducted by Dr. C. Lalzarliana, Agriculture Director, was attended by Dr. S. Arulraj, Director and 3 Principal Scientists – Dr. P. Kalidas, Dr. M.V. Prasad and Dr. B.N. Rao from Directorate of Oil Palm Research (DOPR)), Pedavegi, Andhra Pradesh, on the one hand, and from Mizoram, all District Agriculture Officers who are supervisor of Oil Palm cultivation in Districts, Oil Palm cultivators, 3 Partner Companies – Godrej Agrovet Ltd., Ruchi Soya Industries Pvt. Ltd. and 3F Oil Palm Agrotech Pvt. Ltd., with which Mizoram Government signed agreement for Oil Palm cultivation, and other Agriculture Department Officers.

The officials discussed various matters for the progress of Oil Palm cultivation in Mizoram including Oil Palm Mill, manure, irrigation and other related issues.

The condition of Oil Palm in different places of Mizoram and the problems faced by Oil Palm cultivators were shown.

The officials coming from Directorate of Oil Palm Research also presented different topics relating to Oil Palm cultivation. Oil Palm Training was held in the afternoon session.

Directorate of Oil Palm Research officials during their stay in Mizoram will visit Oil Palm cultivators in Mamit District.
