Ng leads capital market delegation to China
Dec 03 7:18 AM - Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen is leading adelegation of capital market industry players on a four-day trip to China.
The delegation which includes Securities Commission (SC) chairman Datuk MdNor Md Yusof, Bursa Malaysia chief executive officer Yusli Mohammed Yusoffand senior officials of SC and Bursa Malaysia, will visit Beijing,Shanghai and Shenzhen.
The purpose of the visit is to introduce the Malaysian capital markets andto explore areas of cooperation and business for participants andinvestors between the two countries, a statement from the deputy financeminister's office said.
It would also serve to strengthen ties between Bursa Malaysia and boursesin Shanghai and Shenzhen and for brokerages and fund managers to explorepotential business opportunities, it said.
The delegation would also seek to raise the level of cooperation andinformation exchange between the SC and China Securities RegulatoryCommission and to explore of a strategic alliance between Bursa Malaysiaand bourses in China.
One area of strategic alliance between the bourses could come in the formof expanding the palm oil futures contract to include investors from China, the statement added.
