Peru Promoting Palm Oil Production In Ucayali Region
18/10/2012 (BERNAMA) - Peru's Agroideas programme will encourage crop production restructuring in the Ucayali region through palm oil production, which has become an important business option.
To that end, the programme run by the Ministry of Agriculture will provide 250 small agricultural producers with more than 41.9 million soles (US$735,297).
Among agricultural organisations which will benefit from this programme are: El Condor, Fuente de Vida, Los Progresistas, Luchadores de Apalmen y Ecomundo-Palmeco.
Investments to be made in a total area of 1,435 hectares are expected to include many agricultural families in the palm oil supply chain with an organised offer aimed at crude oil extraction plants in the area.
To launch the new business plans, Agroideas chief, Marco Vinelli, and Ucayali regional president, Jorge Velasquez, met in Pucallpa with people involved in agricultural development.
The Compensation Programme for Competitiveness (Agoideas) works as a strategic partner of small agricultural entrepreneurs.
So far, the programme has benefited more than 8,000 organised agricultural producers, raising their competitiveness and improving their quality of life and environment.
