27/09/2012 (The Star) - Shares of plantation stocks were among the major decliners on Bursa Malaysia on Wednesday, with the crude palm oil (CPO) futures falling to a two-year low.

At 3.44pm, United Plantations fell 36 sen to RM24.60, Batu Kawan 16 sen to RM17.92, KL Kepong and Tradewinds Plantations 14 sen each to RM22.06 and RM4.27 while BLD Plantations declined 10 sen to RM8.10.

The FBM KLCI fell 0.2 of a point to 1,618.38. Turnover was 646.04 million shares valued at RM898.08mil. Declining stocks beat advancers 375 to 237.

CPO's sharp decline could be the biggest quarterly loss since due to weakening global growth and higher stockpiles, according to wire reports.

According to Bloomberg, CPO futures have slumped 13% this quarter, the biggest loss since the three months to December 2008.
