18/09/2012 (Bernama) - Render Com, one of the main suppliers of fats and oils in Romania, foresees higher imports of palm oil from Malaysia given the growing demands for the edible oil.

Being one of the earliest and major importer of Malaysian palm oil, Render currently garners 15 per cent of the Romania's oils and fats market.

Its Director-General, Virginia F.Stancu, said the company was incorporated in 1996 and began operations with the import of cocoa powder from Malaysia and Indonesia.

She said the group was among the first Romanian company to import palm oil from Malaysia due to the oil's good quality.

"We import Malaysian palm oil due to the positive feedback received from our customers and we foresee a market uptrend towards the end of the year.

"With Easter and other celebrations coming soon, the demand for palm oil will increase," she told Bernama, adding that Render had about 40 distributors in Romania and imported 3,000 tonnes of palm oil from Malaysia last year.

Virginia said on average, the group imported about 5,000 tonnes of palm oil annually from Malaysia.

She said currently, Render was the sole agent for big food and oils and fats-based international companies in Romania which included Cargill, Arte Oliva, Nutria and Indcresa, which afforded exclusivity to the company in the Romanian market.

Render has 30 employees and representatives all over Romania.
