Malaysia-Pakistan Business Council Chief Mohamad Salim Fateh Din Honoured

30/08/2012 (Bernama) - The chairman of the Malaysia-Pakistan Business Council, Datuk Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, has been awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz or Medal of Excellence by the Pakistan government in recognition of his effort in enhancing bilateral trade between Islamabad and Kuala Lumpur.

The award is the fourth highest honour given to any Pakistan civilian. It is also bestowed on foreign citizens who have done great service to Pakistan.

Salim has been actively pursuing increase of trade and business between both countries and is in the forefront of the Single Country Exhibition Malaysia to be held in Pakistan, The News International reported today.

The MPBC is based in Malaysia. Last year, total trade between Malaysia and Pakistan stood at US$2.81 billion (RM8.5 billion). Malaysia's exports to Pakistan stood at US$2.5 billion, while imports totalled US$250 million.

Among goods exported to Pakistan are palm oil, chemical products, electrical and electronics components, machinery and appliances and processed food.
