Activity At Karachi And Qasim Ports
16/07/2012 (Business Recorder) - A cargo volume of 74,893 tonnes, comprising 70,791 tonnes of import cargo and 4,102 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,457 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 70,791 tonnes includes 48,443 tonnes of furnace oil; 8,540 tonnes of palm oil; 5,825 tonnes of chemicals and 7,938 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 4,102 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Three ships namely CV New Delhi Express, MT Vermilion Energy and MT Argent Aster carrying containers, palm oil and furnace oil respectively sailed out to sea on Saturday morning. A total number of five vessels viz CV New Delhi Express, MV Salta, MT Argent Aster, MT Vermilion Energy and Dong A Iris are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, palm oil, furnace oil and chemicals respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as two ships Feng Hai and Harsanadi with palm oil and chemicals respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
A total number of two vessels viz MT Feng Hai and MV Harsanadi with palm oil and chemicals respectively are expected to take berths at Liquid Cargo Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Saturday.
