Activity At Karachi and Qasim Ports
25/06/2012 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 105,845 tonnes of cargo including 70,131 tonnes of import, 35,714 tonnes of export cargo and 6,960 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during the last 24 hours of business activities ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. A total number of 3,192 loaded containers including 1,261 loaded 20' containers and 1,931 loaded 40' containers are handled during the reported period.
While there are 1,170 total unloaded containers including 503 unloaded 20' containers and 667 unloaded 40' containers are handled during business hours on Saturday. The total 70,131 tonnes of import cargo comprised of 50,912 tonnes of total containerised cargo; 55 tonnes of general cargo and 23,200 tonnes of b bulk cargo. The total export cargo of 35,714 tonnes comprised of 29,246 tonnes of total containerised cargo; 87 tonnes of general cargo; 7,255 tonnes of loose bulk cement cargo and 2,050 tonnes of oil and liquid cargo.
PORT QASIM
Port Qasim maintained port's activities of total cargo volume of 67,958 tonnes including 50,741 tonnes of import cargo; 17,217 tonnes of export cargo and there 2,627 loaded and empty containers are handled during the last 24 hours of business activity on Saturday.
The total import cargo volume of 50,741 tonnes comprised of 23,533 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,943 tonnes of diesel oil; 12,918 tonnes of palm oil; 570 tonnes of fertiliser cargo and 4,777 tonnes of chemical cargo are handled during the business activity hours of the port on Saturday. The total export cargo volume of 17,217 tonnes comprised of 587 tonnes of cement cargo; 14,167 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,463 tonnes of rice cargo are handled during the reported period of activities on Saturday. There are four cargo vessels namely M V Ocean Prince, M V Star Masaya, M T Al-Soor-II and M T SC Taipei are expected to sail out to the sea on Saturday morning, while there are two more cargo vessels namely M T Sunrise Wisteria and M V Tampa Bay are expected to sail out to the sea on the same day afternoon.
There are total number of ten cargo vessels namely M T Bom Chin, M V Ocean Prince, M V Safemarine Ngami, M V Tampa Bay, M T SC Taipei, M T Al-Soor-II, M T Chemroad Vega, M V Star Masaya, M V Rainbow Fairy and M T Sunrise Wisteria are currently occupying the berths to load/offload cement cargo, palm oil tankers, containerised cargo, chemical cargo, diesel oil tankers, rice cargo and fertiliser cargo respectively during the last 24 hours of business activities at the port on Saturday.
There are a total number of five cargo vessels namely M V Brizo, M T Agent Daisy, M T Ginga Eagle, M V Singapore Trader and M T BBC Kosan carrying furnace oil tankers, palm oil tankers and containerised cargo respectively are hanging out at the outer anchorage of the port on Saturday.
A total number of two cargo vessels namely M V Singapore Trader and M V BBC Kosan carrying containerised cargo respectively are scheduled to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and MW-1 on Saturday evening.
