Pahang Continues Balanced Economic Policy To Achieve Development State In 2020

17/05/2012 (Bernama) - The Pahang state government will continue its policy of balanced economic development in order to achieve a developed state status by year 2020, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob.

He said for this purpose, the existing sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture and services would be strengthened and, at the same time, the government would explore new economic development sectors such as biotechnology.

He said the establishment of the State Agricultural Development Corporation (LKPP), which was to support the agricultural sector, would develop and manage oil palm plantations on commercial and social basis in Pahang.

"Until December last year, 28,692 hectares of land had been develop," he said in response to Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad (BN-Kerdau) at the state assembly sitting at Wisma Sri Pahang, here today.

He said the LKPP managed a total of 1,700 hectares of oil palm plantations, known as a Heritage Farm and the income was channeled to the state government for distribution to the poor.
