Felda To Sort Out Three Areas Before Any Listing O
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- Three important areas would have to besorted out before the listing of Felda Holding Sdn Bhd can take place onBursa Malaysia, said Group Chairman of Kumpulan Felda, Tan Sri Dr MohdYusof Noor, Wednesday.
The three would involve the study of the production capacity of Felda'spalm oil mills, its plantation quality and performances and the managementof Felda in general, he told reporters after the launch of Felda'srestaurant/catering business, Felda D'Saji Sdn Bhd, here Wednesday.
Dr Mohd Yusof said the study was important as Felda had been in existencefor 50 years while the mills, which formed the major source of revenue forFelda, were already 30 years old.
The plan to list Felda on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia was announcedby former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad during the tabling of the2004 Budget.
If the study proves positive, the question of listing would not be aproblem and could be carried out any time, he said.
On the establishment of Felda D'Saji meanwhile, he said that it wouldprovide job opportunities for the settlers' children and at the same timereduce the problem of unemployment.
Felda D'Saji was established in November last year with a paid-up capitalof RM1 million and business capital of RM5 million.
He said Felda D'Saji was also planning on expanding its business overseasby opening a chain of restaurants and cafe in line with the group's visiontowards globalisation.
Among the foreign markets where it expects to open its restaurants areEngland, US, West Asia and Australia.
