Activity At Karachi and Qasim Ports
03/04/2012 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 238,271 tonnes of cargo comprising1 177,393 tonnes of import cargo and 60,878 tonnes of export cargo including 5,684 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 177,393 tonnes comprised of 65,039 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,821 tonnes of general cargo; 53,123 tonnes of bulk cargo: 51,267 tonnes of coal; 1,856 tonnes of rock phosphate and 45,410 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 60,878 tonnes comprised of 50,129 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,509 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,454 tonnes of cement; 5,055 tonnes of rice and 4,240 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Eleven ships namely YM Ningbo, APL Chicago, Kota Azam, UASC Shuwaikh, Pramoni, Daewoo Diamond, Aspam Sun, MT Quetta, Sea Rose and Tamarita with five container ships, four oil tankers, one coal carrier and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Twelve vessels viz UASC Shuwaikh, MOL Wind, Hyundai Unity, Glen Canyon Bridge, Daewoo Diamond, Eships Maya, Purwati, An Xin Jiang, Tamarita, Cido Pacific, Omera-1 and Pos Freedom with four container ships, three oil tankers, three general cargo ships, one coal carrier and one rock phosphate ship respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely Purwati, An Xin Jiang and Hyundai Unity carrying one oil tanker, one general cargo ship and one container ship respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while five ships namely Thor Integrity, Cido Pacific, Eships Maya, Glen Canyon Bridge and UBC Cyprus with one coal carrier, one general cargo ship, one oil tanker, one container ship and one bulk cargo ship respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
Five vessels viz Oriental Nadeshiko, Liwa, CS Discovery, Gourniat and Ina Lotte with one chemicals carrier, one mogas ship, one container ship, one urea ship and one coal carrier respectively due to arrive on Monday, while two vessels viz Unity and Pancaldo with one container aship and project cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 77,047 tonnes, comprising 70,112 tonnes of import cargo and 6,935 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 708 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 70,112 tonnes includes 49,124 tonnes of furnace oil; 5,500 tonnes of palm oil; 8,971 tonnes of fertiliser and 6,517 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo includes 6,935 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Two ships namely CV ACX Raffelasia and MT Golden Dynasty sailed out to sea on Monday morning.
A total number of six ships namely CV Maersk Wisconsin, CV Safmarine Ngami, CV ACX Raffelasia, MT Golden Dynasty, MT Qubaa and MV Umm-ad-Dalkh are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, palm oil, furnace oil and fertiliser respectively during last 24 hours.
A container ship namely Nonjing Dragon is currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
A total number of two vessels viz CV Maersk Wisconsin and MT Yamamah with containers and phosphoric acid respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday.
A container ship namely CV Boxhill due to arrive on Monday, while two more container ships namely CV Sealand Washington and CV Al-Mutanabi are expected to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday
