Activity At Karachi And Qasim Ports

31/03/2012 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 83,327 tonnes of cargo including 47,313 tonnes of import, 36,014 tonnes of export cargo and 4,541 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during the last 24 hours of business activities ended at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 47,313 tonnes comprised of 39,163 tonnes of total containerised cargo; 7,500 tonnes of coal cargo and 650 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 36,014 tonnes comprised of 28,208 tonnes of total containerised cargo; 30 tonnes of b bulk cargo; 1,027 tonnes of cement cargo; 2,699 tonnes of rice and 4,050 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

A total number of three vessels namely Dongbu Promy-2, Ocean Pegasus and Ginga Puma sailed out to the sea during the reported business period on Friday.

There are only five vessels namely Rio Blanco, APL Chicago, YM Ningbao, Sea Rose and Cyprus Galaxy carrying containerised cargo, bulk cargo and oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths during the reported business hours at Karachi Port on Friday.

There are three vessels namely Cyprus Galaxy, Rio Blanco and C S L Ride are expected to sail out to the sea on Friday.

While there are two more vessels namely Kota Azam and YM Ningbao are expected to sail out to the sea on Saturday.

A total number of five vessels namely Pramoni, Daewoo Diamond, Eships Maya, APL Brisbane and Thor Integrity carrying chemical cargo, ethanol cargo, Jet oil tankers, containerised cargo, coal cargo, chemical cargo and general cargo are expected to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
Port Qasim maintained port's activities of cargo volume of 96,184 tonnes including 86,132 tonnes of import; 10,184 tonnes of export cargo and the total number of 1,860 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) are handled during the last 24 hours of business activity on Friday.

The total import cargo volume of 86,132 tonnes comprised of 51,776 tonnes of diesel oil, 9,200 tonnes of palm oil and 25,156 tonnes of containerised cargo are handled during the business activity hours of the port.

The total export cargo volume of 10,184 tonnes, comprised of 10,184 tonnes of containerised cargo is handled during the reported period of activities on Friday.

There is only one cargo vessel namely C V Nicoline Maersk sailed out to the sea on Friday morning, while there are two more cargo vessels namely C V MSC Sena and M T Al-Soor-II expected to sail on Saturday.

A total number of four cargo vessels namely C V Nicoline Maersk, C V MSC Sena, M T Al-Soor-II and M T Bunga Angelica are currently occupying the berths to load/offload containerised cargo, diesel oil tankers and palm oil tankers respectively during the last 24 hours of business activities at the port on Friday.

A total number of two vessels namely M V Umm-ad-dalkh and M T Harsandi carrying fertiliser cargo and chemical cargo respectively are currently to line up at the outer anchorage on Friday during the Business activity hours.

A total number of three vessels namely C V CMA CGM Eiffel, M V Umm-ad-dilkh and M T Harsandi carrying containerised cargo, fertiliser cargo and chemical cargo respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminals, FAP and Engro Vopak Terminal on Friday, while another vessel namely C V Reunion carrying containerised cargo is expected to arrive at Port Qasim on the same day.

There is another cargo vessel namely C V Qubaa carrying oil tankers is expected to arrive at the port on Friday.
