Activity At Karachi and Qasim ports

23/03/2012 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 103,014 tonnes of cargo including 59,071 tonnes of import, 43,943 tonnes of export cargo and 4,355 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during the last 24 hours of business activities ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 59,071 tonnes comprised of 37,906 tonnes of total containerised cargo; 1,165 tonnes of b bulk cargo and 20,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 43,943 tonnes comprised of 35,740 tonnes of total containerised cargo; 42 tonnes of b bulk cargo; 992 tonnes of cement cargo; 2,269 tonnes of rice and 4,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

A total number of six vessels namely M T Lahore, UASC Ajman, Hyundai Freedom, MSC Cristiana, Diana Island and Abtin-1 sailed out to the sea during the reported business period on Tuesday.

A total number of three vessels namely Hanjin Monaco, Sea Merchant and Maersk Pipper respectively are currently at the berths to load/offload containerised cargo bulk cargo and oil tankers respectively during the reported business hours at Karachi Port.

There are three vessels namely Lindavia, Maersk Pipper and Hanjin Monaco are expected to sail out to the sea on Tuesday.

While there are four more vessels namely R Sea, Abdulaziz Arab, Ocean Pegasus and Nadeem currently on the port during the reported period.

There is only one vessel namely Daewoo Diamond carrying ethanol cargo is expected to arrive on Tuesday, while there are seven more vessels namely Cypress Galaxy, Pechora Star, Dongbu Promy-2, Purawati, Hermes, C & L Ride and Rio Blanco carrying Ethanol cargo, MOL, chemicals and containerised cargo respectively during the business activity hours at the port on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
Port Qasim maintained port's activities of cargo volume of 100,411 tonnes including 70,684 tonnes of import; 29,727 tonnes of export cargo and the total number of 2,250 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) are handled during the last 24 hours of business activity on Tuesday.

The total import cargo volume comprised of 70,684 tonnes including 48,525 tonnes of furnace oil, 7,700 tonnes of palm oil and 14,459 tonnes of containerised cargo are handled during the business activity hours of the port.

The total export cargo volume comprised of 29,727 tonnes including 1,436 tonnes of wheat; 28,291 tonnes of containerised cargo are handled during the reported period of the activity hours on Tuesday.

There is only one cargo vessel namely C V Safmarine Ngami carrying containerised cargo sailed out to the sea on Tuesday morning.

While there is another vessel namely M V Unicorn Emerald carrying bulk cargo is expected to sail on same day after day noon.

A total number of four vessels namely C V Safmarine Ngami, M V Unicorn Emerald, M T Karachi and M T Chemroad Nova are currently occupying the berths to load/offload containerised cargo, wheat cargo, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours of business activities at the port on Tuesday.

A total number of four vessels namely C V Maersk Kalamata, C V UASC Ramadi, C V SC Shantou and M T Bunga Angelica carrying cargo containers and palm oil respectively are currently to line up at the outer anchorage on Tuesday during the Business activity hours.

A total number of two vessels namely C V Maersk Kalamata and C V UASC Ramadi carrying containerised cargo respectively are expected to take berths on Tuesday at the port.

While there are three more vessels namely C V CMA CGM Strauss, C V CMA CGM Puget and C V AXC Raffelsai are expected to arrive at the port on Wednesday.
