29/02/2012 (TEMPO Interactive) - Ali Fathan, management advisor for oil palm plantation company Barat Selatan Makmur Investindo, said that the company is planning to leave Mesuji after twice being targeted by raging residences. “We have tried to convince them to not leave,” Ali said on Monday.

Ali said that, due to the two riots which damaged and set the company’s facilities on fire, the company had incurred Rp20 billion in losses. The vandalism destroyed all company’s facilities except the mosque and fertilizer stock. “The subsequent mass rage has raised concern from investors in Malaysia about their investment in Indonesia,” said Ali who is a retired army general.

The company’s facilities burned down by the residents included management office, security posts, oil palm processing plant, meeting hall, and some heavy machinery.
